Alberni Storm
High
winds struck the Alberni Valley during the spring of 2003. Port
Alberni was drowning under 62 millimeters of rain and winds gusting
up to 85km/hr.
Trees collapsed on roads throughout the Alberni Valley, scattering
logs and brush across several sections of Highway 4. Vancouver
Island Powerline was requested by BC Hydro to provide restoration
service to the area.

Three distribution crews were dispatched
for 5 days. In total 3,800 households lost their power in
the Alberni
Valley.
